Also don’t forget - Girl from East Brunswick tonight!
Friday, January 30th, 2009There is The Girl From East Brunswick fundraiser tonight @ The East Brunswick Club. I’m not that fussed about dogs generally, but I think if you have to like dogs, Greyhounds are pretty awesome (they’re almost cats), and it’s AIR CONDITIONED (though I’ve been told the band room will get pretty hot regardless, the Front Bar is apparently nice n coooool) and the delectable miss Rosy Rabbit is headlining the bill - and I’ll actually be able to relax and enjoy the show instead of running about like a headless chicken like I was @ Euchronia.
Who’s in? We’ll probably be getting there around 8-9ish

Obligatory Election Post.
Thursday, November 6th, 2008

I seriously was nervous that there would be a way they would rig this election. I’m so relieved it’s been such a strong result to Obama. I’ve shed a few tears actually, it’s been that hard to believe it’s actually true.
This means, btw, that there’s a chance
Unfortunately, Prop 8 - California, shame on you. That’s just so not the positive reinforcement to such a huge victory, especially in CA. I guess it will be a while til we see a gay president, huh?
Squiggly-woo.
Saturday, October 11th, 2008It’s been a sociable kinda week! Saw The Duchess on Monday night [quite good]. Then Fringe-Lympics on Wednesday was absolutely hilarious, and as expected totally silly. By divine providence we managed to have an exact table of 8, and had some mad singing skillz from
Covenant et al last night were pretty neat - but Destroid/Haujobb [Daniel Myer] totally stole the show. Seriously, that one track where he plays the drums totally pwned everything else on the bill. Perth folks, make sure you don’t show up late! I am thinking Diary of Dreams will go down well with the kiddies in Perth, they were not really my thing but I can really see them appealing to the younger particularly Perth crowd.
In other news, kitteh is still unnamed [we quite like Clara, but it's not quite right for her, she's too bouncy], and more adorable every day. She LOVES playing fetch. How common is that in cats? We have this little catnip toy that she can’t get enough of, just keeps bringing it back to the bed, we throw it, she runs to get it and brings it right back, I can just keep throwing it ad infinutum! She’s also just worked out how to open the bathroom door on her own, too. Clever kitty!
Okay, now to jump on the latest meme-bandwagon, c/o
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don’t speak often or ever) please post a comment with a completely made up, fictional memory of you and me.
It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake, mmk?
Silliness - Fringe-Lympics, anyone?
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008So, it looks like we’ll be getting quite a bit o’ Fringe in this year. On Sunday at the Festival Club @ North Melbourne Town Hall we caught Ollie Olsen & friends Fading Fires doing a pretty impressive set accompanying some interesting surrealist movies including murderous women with keys that turned into knives, and mysterious flocks of bowler hats … and a half hour montage of gulf war oil fire footage, which was fascinating and terrifically saddening. The music was quite good, very experimental, evocative. Well worth heading down - and even better, it was free!
There is more neat Fringe stuff coming up - we’re checking out the Tenth Stage tomorrow night @ the Toff, and there’s a couple of things we kinda wanna maybe see, such as Danceathon 6000 on Friday night [free] and possibly more amusingly, we rather fancy the idea of Fringe-Lympics hosted by Dave Callan [also free] - if anyone is game to get a team together, perhaps? It could be amusing indeed. Or embarrassing. Or stupid. But I like Dave Callan, he’s funneh
Here’s the blurb:
Fringe-lympics - Hosted By Dave Callan
Pub Trivia On Steroids
Be a part of the inaugural Fringe-lympics! Pub trivia, group games, karaoke, double-dare, physical challenge, primal scream therapy and the Commodore 64 meets the world’s dumbest art competition.
Bring a team of friends or just come along for the fun.
Art is a race. Let’s cheat.
Anyone game for this? It’s next Wednesday 8th October.

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008So, everyone excited about the Large Hadron Collider being turned on today? If you’re worried about OMGENDOFTHAWORLD [though maybe not enough to send death threats]:
“The collisions will not start until later this month, and it will be next year before the particle accelerator is running at full power. “
So we all have a while yet, even with the thing turned on.
*tick tock, tick tock*
So hard to update these days…
Sunday, August 17th, 2008Really, it so is! I am amazed at how few posts I’ve made over the last few months. I have found it a huge strain even just keeping up reading my FL: doesn’t help that I keep so many newsfeeds on there, but I do feel it’s the best way to stay on top of general news as well as the news from all of you who are physical friends. So please know I am trying to read everything, but I know I’m sometimes missing or skimming: over the last 2 days I’ve been going back as far as 850 entries!! So that should give you some idea.
What have I been up to? Well, quick trip to Perth last week was good, lovely to catch up with a lot of people, though it was such a quick trip! This week has been unbelievably hectic, but I’m finally all caught up and I feel like I’m back behind the 8-Ball, so to speak.
Oh yes, can’t go any further without saying that VNV were awesome on Friday night and I hope the Perth gig is spectacular: good to hear there will be decent sound hired for it, hope the techs get it right because too many live gigs at Gilks have had sucky sound [and I mean, pretty much all of them because it's such a hard venue to get the mix right, big and echoey and weird shaped]. As always Ronan was hilarious and passionate and the music was great. Not such a good light show as last time from what I remember, I am expecting Perth to kick ass in that respect too - I am expecting that they will go away wondering why on earth they didn’t play Perth last tour!!!
Have a wonderful time tonight my friends, and know that I am there with you in spirit, dancing my ass off to Chrome and tearing up during Beloved.
Tickets to Underworld [read:Summadayze] go on sale here Monday. No presales like there was for Perth this week, so I’m expecting it to sell out in record time, so will be buying first thing. Shame it’s at Sidney Myer [crappy venue] but Underworld will be amazing no matter where they play.
We can has Lonely Planet!
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008The Lonely Planet doco crew that filmed us a couple of months back @ The LockWorks have just put up the vid on the lonelyplanet.tv website - check it out!
We’re on just a little after halfway through, after two other pretty random segments. I think we came across rather well, and
We also have another doco crew interested in us for later on in the year, but I won’t say anything more about that in case it doesn’t happen
