Stupidity.

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Watched Idiocracy tonight with teh boy, and was discomfited at times by a chilling sense of foreboding, and I couldn’t help thinking of something I’d seen/listened to earlier that day - the Sarah Palin prank call. Embarrassing really has reached a new level, and it’s frankly terrifying that someone THAT stupid is a VPC…

of course, something that is utterly missing from our potential stupid future seems to be videos of cats doing stupid things, so I’m going to hope there’s nothing fundamentally worrying about my gales of laughter at these two gems:

… in other news, myself and da boy have both been a bit poorly. I got [I think] food poisoning a couple weeks back and my body hasn’t been quite right since it seems, and have tried to do stuff and keep up with busy schedule, then fallen over useless the next day, repeatedly during this time. Apologies for having been occasionally flaky as a result… want to be back to my usual self shortly as there is much to be done over the next week and a half before heading to Perth for 2 1/2 weeks!

Quote of the Week: Year 1802

‘I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties
than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to
control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive
the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the
continent their fathers conquered.’

Thomas Jefferson 1802

Hells yes. *shakes fist* interestingly I was told by the lady @ Charlie Weaver today about a great industry association that can save like, 90% of my eftpos etc fees - this would totally apply to you too, if you are interested let me know and I can pass on info! less the banks get the better, they’ve been growing too fat for too long, now is their time to diiiiiie.

In other news, I made the most yummy dinner tonight, gluten free brown rice penne, organic steak mince, organic basil & garlic pasta sauce, organic cherry tomatoes, organic spinach, organic cheese and a couple of glasses of organic rose from a really cute little bottle shop up on Lygon St in East Brunswick. Doing ticket & flyer runs has been tiring but good and I’ve got to *properly* exercise my eBike - I’ve been tuckered out easily though after being horribly sick [suspect food poisoning from dodgy Vietnamese restaurant] on Monday and for half of Tuesday was very weak too. My lips are also now horridly chapped from the wind. But I got to ride around Albert Park lake! It was pretty.

That is all.

This is me in the back room of Perth Wildilocks, you can see hangers and hair beside and behind me. I am updating software for the shop, and it is taking a long time - otherwise I doubt I would have had the time or inclination to partake in this meme :P

Flying back to Melbourne tomorrow, busy busy busy OMG busy! Scott & Keilo’s wedding was awesome, John’s bday was fun, Sin was BUSY last Sat and this week has been NON stop work. I am a machine.

Sociability….

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Also, I had a fun night last night. Got to meet Mel’s new lad, , and he seems a capital fellow. Had dinner, drinks, then went out to Blitz where rocked out and kept me dancing for about 3/4 of her set, and many lovely folks were about. I feel in some ways I’ve become rather less social, but I don’t feel deprived, for I has a and he makes me happy every single day.

I love this wintry weather and snuggling up in bed on Sundays. Sundays rule.

An Adventure to Ceres tomorrow! Would you like come?

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Well it’s been a fun and sociable weekend though not for great long periods of time, with and ’s bday drinks at Polly we only managed to catch 1/2 hour of *shakes tiny fist* however the music at Blitz was great and got his dance on for about a solid hour and a half.

is also over from Perth til Tuesday and as I’ve just got my working electric bike back [after about 6 months of asking for it...!] I have proposed a cycling, eating & exploring Adventure for tomorrow!

This Adventure is to somewhere I’ve wanted to visit for some time, CERES - The Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies - http://www.ceres.org.au - up in East Brunswick, where there is much organic food goodness and it’s only 8 or so km from the Melbourne CBD. As has brought a nice folder bike with him, and has already ridden to places as far away as Coburg, I felt this would be a nice outing.

I am proposing we should leave the CBD around 11.30amish, give or take a bit, allowing us to reach CERES hopefully around 12 - 12.30, barring any hold-ups. We plan to have luncheon at the Ceres Cafe [>pdf of menu] which looks scrummy, and I’d also like to visit the Nursery and at least one of the farm areas. Unfortunately the Bikeshed is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. There seems to be a variety of things to check out that are open 7 days, so I’m sure we won’t be bored!

As far as route goes, I propose going up via Nicholson St, and returning via the Merri Creek trail. If anyone wants to join us cycling up, please let me know asap, as that may make our lunch time a little later start if we’re socialising more along the way or changing our route. Otherwise you can get a tram easily and Ceres has how-to-get-there information here, and here is the Google map.

If you can read this, you’re invited to join us! So please do if you’re free and would like to catch up for a yummy organic lunch.

Morning

I’m about to jump on a plane from Wellington back to Melbourne.

I love Wellington and all it’s colourful and delightful denizens. I can’t wait to live here, I feel renewed every time I come back.

Lucky I have CHJ: I can’t access LJ from this crappy airport terminal, but I can post via CHJ. Nyarrrrrr!

Am just about to fly over to NZ. First time in the International Airport in aaaaaages - like about a decade. It feels very narrow.

Look out Wellington, ima hug all of you tonight, if I don’t see you tonight, I’m vaguely contemplating some kind of dinnery thing Sunday night unless someone offers a more tempting option!

I gotta go get onna plane now, sooo…. BYE!

1 more week…

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Well it was a fun Saturday night, food was okay at Deville’s but not supramazing, Sin was fun, and Sat morning we had a photoshoot at the shop with which I got pictures back from the same night …. so now I has a bunch of peekatures for shop promo to play with for new business cards, flyers and web stuff, I’ll post my two faves of me below, but there are maaaany more of everyone else!

This is my last week for this trip! I’ve enjoyed being back, been great to catch up with people, especially great to spend so much time with and , but believe it or not, I’m actually missing Melbourne. I’m especially missing The Aerie, and I can’t wait to be back into my weekly organic food box security, as I’ve not been eating so well over here, and been a bit poorly on a few days. I’ve had a hard time keeping up with email and work due to internet being all over the place and being so busy each day at work!

Anyone in Perth who has not yet caught up who would like to, time is now running out!

I fly out to NZ Friday night, and I am looking forward very much to catching up with all Wellingtonites, especially as is having a partay while I’m over, whee! Anyone who isn’t able to make it on Sat night please let me know if you’d like to catch up and we’ll make a time & place, I don’t have much scheduled [and I'm waitlisted for tattoo, so that might not happen either, not the easiest thing to do to book a tattoo from another country :P]

I have electric bike back from this week too, looking forward to being on two wheels, it’s been an age since I rode as I haven’t needed or been able to in Melbourne, so much has changed in 9 months, and I am doing a big circuit today out to Bassendean, the city, then on the way back to my mums check out the new organic store on Charles St that I don’t remember being there last time I went down Charles St. Whee!

So, what do you think of the pics? :)

head count for Deville’s Sat night?

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Hands up! Please let me know if you will be coming for dinner at Devilles this Sat night as mentioned couple weeks back. We have a table booked for 7pm, just need to confirm numbers.

Also, saw new Indy film tonight, it was fun and much in the spirit of the originals, and I was glad I had had low expectations.
